Common questions
What is E.164 format?
E.164 is the international standard for phone numbers: a plus sign, the country code and the number with no spaces or punctuation. For US numbers that looks like +15551234567. Most SMS and dialer platforms want this format.
Does this check that a number is real?
It checks that the number is structurally valid for the US numbering plan (10 digits, valid area code and exchange). It cannot tell you whether the line is active or who owns it.
